The “Social” Netscape has finally and officially moved to its new url, Propeller.com as of today. The official blog states that we should expect some growing pains, particularly as it sorts out its problem with spam. For example, I suspect *any* post regarding tramadol is *probably* spam. It also says that there are new stuff in the pipeline which should be interesting to see as a means of differentiating itself from all of the other social news sites.
If you were wondering about the new url being a bit of an island compared to its parent aol/netscape, fear not as pickings *from* Propeller will be appearing on Netscape and vice versa. For more information follow a Propeller fan site (already?!) and of course the scouts, such as Muhammad Saleem.

If there weren’t humans behind the thing, wouldn’t that tramadol BS still be there?
Corey — the problem is that humans, along with the structures that organize them, are fallible. If the spam is coming in faster than they can track, or the tools that they’re using are less than perfect, or the humans behind things aren’t organized efficiently, then spam gets through.
I’m sure that things will tighten up in the future for many reasons — one of which, of course, is that there isn’t an alternative if Propeller is to survive.
Interesting enough, I’ll bookmark this page.

[...] Off Social News Into Propeller? October 11th, 2007 at 7:09 pm About a month ago, I wrote about how Netscape dumped its social news component into its own site, Propeller.com and wondered rhetorically how it would turn out — with the subtext being, perhaps, how [...]
