Just had a quick look at Adobe’s Buzzword, which is its contribution to the online wordprocessor fight, and I just had to drop a few superlatives.
It is dead sexy. And it works.
What makes the whole thing different is that it runs on Flash. But its snappy, colorful, and really tasteful.
It mimics the usual wordprocessor you have offline in all its functions, in its ability to undo things, and the usual stuff. But, as the preview document details, its also able to do a few things HTML/Ajax’ified word processors can’t because its Flash, such as word wrapping around images in a seamlessly slick way. It also does tables in a snap as well.
Oh, it also comes which a whole bunch of cool fonts that are, of course, that you can see and change on the fly as well. And don’t get me started on the awesome fly-out toolbar that rests in the top right hand corner.
To me, at first glance, it looks like a real honest-to-goodness WYSIWIG word processor that happens to be online. Oh, and it looks like I’m not the only one who’s so effusive about it, either.
Have a look yourself and let me know what you think. The preview is now open to all at: http://preview.getbuzzword.com
