Somehow I didn't return it and learned to live with the frustrations until today (11 months after purchase) whent I decided to search the net to see if someone had come up with a solution. Fortunately, I came upon your site . . . downloaded the driver . . . and the problem is completely resolved. It was that easy. Many, many thanks.
