Isn’t everything that hits Digg gamed? If it’s really that bad, it gets buried.

And do you see the dumb shit that makes it to Digg that’s obviously not gamed (or at least not entirely?)

It’s crap. Stupid geek crap.

Everyone acts like the Digg frontpage is this sacred place where all this great stuff is.

When actually it’s just random shit that’s either funny or interesting.

And many people who are “gaming” the system are doing so with interesting content.

Enough already.

From what I read….the DIGG effect is short lived, the traffic is shallow, and not generally worth the effort.

Comparing it to PPC traffic is completely off base; the buying intention of PPC traffic is fairly high, I would assume most digg traffic is from “browsers” at best.

Digg used to be a way for the little guy to get some attention and compete with the latest NYTimes story for eyeballs. But now the little guy has been lost in a sea of self-promoters, gamers, and SEOs. Which isn’t that bad, since even the little guy was self-promoting, but now it’s just the big guy, or the guy that is willing to pay that gets the front page.
