Update: Well, it looks like all has been explained — Feedburner *isn’t* picking up Google’s feedfetcher … apparently all will be well Monday morning.
Well, for reasons that have yet to be explained, my Feedburner subscribers were just halved. I actually noticed it first on Mike Arrington’s Techcrunch, as his numbers are “way down” too — from 600k to about 300k; however, it seems like its everwhere else as well. Mat Ingram’s blog: 1600 to 1100, and Stan Shroeder’s FranticIndustries down to 1200 from 2000. (I’d quote others, but those are the only ones whose pre-drop numbers I recall).
While I don’t care as much as much about my subscriber count as I used to, I will admit that I’m still interested in the whys. Let’s all remember that Feedburner is now owned by Google, who has been in the news for all kinds of things; second of all, Google has a history of being rather opaque with their reasonings. Thirdly, everyone’s stats actually *doubled* about 8 months ago ago pre-Google ownership as Feedburner was starting to recognize Google reader stats.
Is the halving a bug, or is there a new downward adjustment that we’re not being told about?
{but I suspect that in a few hours everyone *will* be buzzing about?}

Yeah - I noticed mine roughly halved this morning but given it was the weekend and I had noticed that Feedburner sub counts tend to drop off over Sat/Sun I didn’t really think anything of it.

Mine’s down from 2,200 to around 1,200 - more than the average weekend drop.
Still, if it’s the same for everyone else, then it’s all relative, and nothing to think too much about.

Mine dropped by over half. From what I can tell, it looks like the Google Feedfetcher stats are the ones not showing up.
Major glitch for Google/Feedburner.

Yeah looks like a specific reader type has dropped off - my photo blog, which has far fewer subscribers, only lost 1 or 2 (

I noticed that my subscriber number had dropped by a third this morning but even after the update none came back. Maybe it’s a sign that I spend too much time conference hopping and blogging lately :)

@anne: I suspect that the correction will happen by tomorrow … my numbers only change daily, anyway. ;)
