Morgan Webb, of X-play fame (who is only “fairly” hot, according to Mike Arrington), now reads Techmeme. No, really. Ok, that’s not fair, she does mention a few other blogs in her first post, but there is something smart about this. Geek celeb + blog pimping == lots of blog love == recipe for potential superstardom. Move over Leo Laporte and Kevin Rose, yet another G4Tech employee balls up with their own venture. I, for one, welcome someone of the female persuasion who knows of what they speak. Just go a little easy on the eye shadow, maybe? :)

    Thanks Allen — you’re a real mensch .

Speaking of mensches (or not, as it were) — is it me, or do we have a proponderence of women doing the online video blogging thing?

[no slight to Om or nothin']

  3. Tony Hung :

Also, what’s interesting, from a self-interest point of view, is how my blog isn’t tracking back your link.

    Hmmm …

  4. Allen Stern :

Thanks Tony, I really try to be as honest as I can because honesty is what can help people become better :)

Let’s not go there with the women and video thing.

BTW, interesting side note… She is already being represented by FM for advertising, she’s been live one day. When I started CN, they told me that you need 1 million impressions a month to qualify. From the note on their site, I guess some don’t need that qualification:

Traffic: 10,000 page views per month

  5. Tony Hung :

Oh yeah, that’s total BS. If you look up their rate cards, there are quite a few bloggers who are “only” in the 10’s of thousands per month range.

Take for example, stowe boyd, who’s blog “/message” gets around 20k/ month.

Maybe you’re not on John Batelle’s short list for elite super-a-list bloggers (who are big on popularity / notoriety but low on traffic — its *quality* man!) ;)

  6. Allen Stern :

Oh, it’s quality! I was thinking it was something else. :)

I will apply again and let’s see what happens. Maybe 2nd time is the charm. You know I am big in Australia and Lower Sengal says Alexa.
