Things have been busy as of late at the BlogHerald, but I’ve also taken the time over the past week or so to give Deep Jive Interests a new coat of paint in terms of a new theme.  In doing so, I’ve learned all I’ve cared to know about the relative (standards-based) evils of Microsoft Explorer, some nitty gritty CSS, and above all, a lot of respect for folks who do this professionally.

Now that its out of the way — back to blogging!

(Of course, you can leave your cheers and jeers on v 1.2 of the DJI theme below).

  1. Sarit :

It looks good, I really like it :)

  2. kelvin newman :

From a pedantic SEO perspective you might really benefit from adding H1 tags, maybe using the image alt text on the home page and the post title on the permalinks.

Other than that looking really smart.

  3. Isaak Kwok :

The new design looks good. I like the huge amounts of white space. :)

  4. Derek :

Congrats on the redesign. This is all class, Tony!

  5. engtech :

I do miss the robot, though.

  6. Stan Schroeder :

I like saying what I actually think, so I’ll be the first to say that I liked the old design better. Not that this one is bad, though: it isn’t (:.

  7. Tony Hung :

    Stan,

Well, you’d be the first on this post, that’s for sure — but its something that I’ve heard from a few people too. :)

    Cheers

  8. Tony Hung :

    Engtech,

Surprisingly, you’re not the first person to say that either. Maybe I should bring him back … ;)

    Cheers

  9. Tony Hung :

    Derek,

    Thanks for the kind words.

  10. Tony Hung :

    Isaak,

I think white space is important … but even now I’m wondering whether I should have even more (between lines, between posts etc etc)

    Cheers

  11. Rod :

Looks good, Tony. I definitely like the white space too.

  12. ryan l :

    okay the straight dope.

The new layout is good and clean.

    The top menubar/titlebar is lacking.

  13. engtech :

Yup, the menu bar is the weak spot for sure.

  14. TDH :

    Refreshing redesign, Mr. T. :)

  15. Tony Hung :

Engtech / Ryan — is the CSS broken? Or are those merely stylistic commentary?

    Cheers
    t @ dji

  16. engtech :

    stylistic :)

Although, I have a picture of my cat in my header, so glass houses and all.

  17. Tony Hung :

Engtech — *that* I can handle.

CSS breaking? That makes me cry like a little girl. No, really it does. That and making sure that the theme is WC3 validated, and is usable across all versions of MSIE.

BTW, is anyone using Safari? Does it work there?

    Cheers
    t @ dji

  18. Muhammad Saleem :

I have to say I agree with Stan on this one. But you already know that Tony ;)

It’s unfortunate that you won’t be able to make it to Chicago this weekend.

    Muhammad

  19. Tony Hung :

    Muahmmad,

Well, you can’t please everyone. ;)

And yes … it is unfortunate. Maybe next time!

  20. rslux :

Very nice & clean, I like it.

  21. engtech :

Does CSS do anything other than break? That is the question.

  22. ryan l :

Its all good in Safari and on Opera Mini via blackberry(thank you css)

its definitely just a graphical/artistic thing for me

not keen on the green font color of the title and the electric blue highlight onmouseover of the links.

    Tony:

I’m liking this new space. Sounds like you had a lot on your hands lately. I couldn’t make it to Chicago as well so maybe next time we go, together ;-) On the good news front, I will be at ProBlogger’s NY program on June 9.
