Taking The Monetization Plunge
by Tony Hung on March 4, 2007
Well, I’ve decided to edjamacate myself on the ins and outs of blog monetization, since it seems like in a very small poll, most folks don’t seem to mind the idea. I will be fiddlind around and tweaking a variety of elements on this blog, so please don’t mind the mess. Hopefully I will be able to find a happy medium behind content and commerce — and I’m sure if you find myself blurring the line, you won’t hesitate to call me out.
So, just as a heads up, I probably will be participating in Text Link Ads and Google Adsense, but won’t be participating in pay per post schemes for the time being. I’m ambivalent about the latter as I fear that the possibilty of paid postings will change my opinion on a topic, as I’ve often blogged about. On the other hand, the siren song of cash money is hard to ignore, with real people making real money — John Chow recently earned enough cash through Review Me in a single month to pay for a 50″ plasma TV home theatre package (give or take a hundred bucks).
More on this to come, but as an off point, if you’re interested in sponsoring DJI I am now happy to listen to all offers: paid links, banners, and so on. Contact me at anthony{dot}hung{at}gmail.com for further enquiries about a PR6 / Alexa 50k / Technorati 3k site that many notables tend to read — and link to.

I’ve always wondered when you’ll start monetizing your blog. At the very least it should help pay for hosting. At most, you could probably earn enough to quit your “day” job. Would you ever consider blogging full-time, if the opportunity exists in the future?

The about link doesn’t work, Tony. Good luck with your monetization efforts!

[...] Tony Hung at Deep Jive Interests is thinking of monetizing his blog, outlining what he’s trying to accomplish and how he’s going to go about it. I always find posts like this interesting, as I’m trying to monetize this site as well, but have had no where near the success I’d like. If anyone has tips, I’m open to suggestions. And good luck, Tony. [...]
