I hear brine-soaked birds are actually pretty darn tasty. Problem is that it takes a bit of planning — which is something we never seem to do very well at ourhousehold. ;)

This year my wife decided to have a dry run thanksgiving day to test out her recipes. We soaked the bird in a brine solution she got at William Sonoma it really kept it moist. OMG, the turkey was so good and I get to do it again in a few days!

Ha ha — its a North American thing where we give thanks for stuff (as the title suggests) … its a nice excuse to have a long weekend and eat turkey.

As for boxing day, I think its a commonwealth kind of thing. I’m sure South Africa also has a boxing day thing (although whether or not its a shopping Event is something i have to figure out)

Same here in Australia – boxing day, the day after Xmas we have our own sales frenzy – you should see them run wild stampeding over each other. :-)

BTW, I gotta read up on ThanksGiving – I know nothing about it.
