Flame Retardant Underwear is UsefulWell, it seems like some of them have a pretty thin skin and / or particularly sensitive when it comes to their Beloved Leader, Kevin Rose. Or alternatively, the thought of Digg getting a little criticism.

Although my post a few days ago had to do with KRo not communicating with the community, it seems not only does the Digg community not mind, but defended his right to be aloof and exploit them like Chinese lemmings workers in an iPod factory.

Sure enough, the flames were out, and I don’t mind telling you that my whiskers are a little singed, charred and baked!

Some choice jeers included …

calling me a “turd burglar”, accusing me of “mangling the English language”, calling this blog “blogspam”, and calling me a “whiner” and “complainer” more than a couple times; I was also accused of gaming Digg because the Digg got an ‘inexplicable’ number of diggs (50+).

Actually that “turd burglar” comment was pretty funny — so props to that ;)

And in followup, KRo did solicit a press release blog post about it, doing little more than acknowledge that changes happen all the time, and most of the time no one notices it. Naturally, no comments are enabled, so no one can ask any further questions.

Also, one Digg fan at RyanDownUnder.com notices that the changes with the new Digg algo seem to be working in ways that perhaps Digg didn’t intend; while previous unknowns are getting to the FP, plenty of duplicates are now flooding the FP, and some have been pushed there by people with a particular political agenda. Seems like its traded one group of diggers (elite ones) for another (take your pick of those that were put down, but they all now have a clear shot of gaming stories to the FP).

Someone needs to tell Kevin what ’social’ stands for in social bookmarking. He also needs to be told that silence isn’t always golden. What he wrote on the blog is rubbish.

Muhammad — shut up doood! Once the DiggNation finds out you dissed El Kevo, they’ll be all over you like — OOoooooh! Another frontpage story about Steve Jobs!

Hold on … I’ll be right back! :D
