So, Google’s unleashed another beta on us — Google Reader, which is its RSS reader.
Sure, it imports feeds well via OPML, you can of course, read your feeds, and you can “share” feeds with other people — but so what?
The thing that really gets in my craw is how SLOW it is. Am I a speed snob? I sure am! I don’t know what it is — maybe I’m used to Netvibes, where it loads ALL of my feeds at the expense of slowing things down when it does (but only when it does), or how used to I’ve become with sites that load instantly — but am I being unreasonable to NOT want to wait every time I open up a feed?
I mean every time you click on a feed ONE MISSISSSIPPI, TWO MISSISSIP– *
Ok, one and a half seconds … STILL too long if you’re interested in 50, 100, or 1000 feeds!
I must be spoilt with all the other readers that I’ve tried where the instant you click on a feeds’ name — *poof* the feed results come up instantly.
For a brand that’s supposed to represent FAST and SIMPLE, Google’s Reader is the model of brand incongruence.
(so, yes, I’m still sticking with Netvibes)
