WordPress Plugin Of The Day: WordPress Suicide
by Tony Hung on October 11, 2006
Ah yes, the desire for a clean reboot of your wordpress blog, or a simple deletion of your wordpress blog, without the fuss and muss of myPHPAdmin toolings, droppings of tables and the like.
Well, it can all be done with a simple plugin that I discovered yesterday, as I needed to obliterate the (probable) cause of this site’s PR0 — duplicate content at my old blog, as, of course, I am still dwelling in pagerank purgatory.
That’s right — I wanted to delete my old blog’s CONTENT, but, leave the blog framework of wordpress in place; installing it with all of the config stuff and databases isn’t difficult per se. But, with the birth of Chief Admiral McPoopy AKA Sir Burp-a-lot, time is at a premium.
At any rate, I can heartily recommend Justin’s WordPress Suicide.
After installing the plugin, you are given a few choices as to which tables you would like to keep, and which ones need to go the way of a clean sterilization. I chose, what I call “the Defcon-4 option” (all of the options), and *poof* … all taken care of.
Why would you need this? Well, if, I suppose, you were in the process of importing a whole bunch of things on your blog, or making huge site-wide database changes, and things went awfully wrong. I am, of course, presupposing that you backed up your blog as well.
With the plugin its easy to just restart over again.
Anyway, a hearty two thumbs up for this plugin, my plugin of the day.
(btw: here is my old blog, sterilized and ready for use!)

Justin — a pleasure!
I love it when a WP Plugin works as advertised! :D
Let us know if you have anything else up your proverbial sleeve.
Cheers
