Sometimes on weekends, I’ll be posting about non-web2.0, non-blogging, whatever happens to interest me kind of stuff.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is one of those things.
It is hard to describe the sheer awesomeness of this amazing product — so I won’t bother (too much). More informed opinions below. But, this morning while doing some cleaning, I noticed that my white sneakers were looking a little worse for wear. Originally, they were a pair of white leather (or leather-like) puma sneakers (MSRP $39).
Lo’ how I wished I had taken my digital camera to them!
Because, in fact, they had turned a positively light shade of grey, with many black marks hiding deep scuffs into its leathery surface.
Bubbling up from the deep recesses of my mind, a small bit of informata reached the surface: could those Mr. Clean Erasers that my wife had been ranting about clean my sneakers?
15 minutes later, I swore I could hear a hallelujah chorus and feel the warm radiance of the Lord Our God bathing me in His Brilliance as I had an epiphany:
Mr. Clean’s Magic Erasers Rock.
They cleaned my sneakers so well they border on being new.
Did I mention how easy it was? A proverbial monkey (and I plan to test this later) could do it:
step 1. stick a Magic Eraser underneath tap water
step 2. rubbing the dirt off
That’s right — you don’t have to apply any soap, or lather it up or anything. A moist magic sponge does the magic!
Anyway, the only thing I’m a little bit sad about is not taking photos of the “before” sneaker. It feels a little like capturing the Madonna in a bowl of cereal, but it disintegrating before you can prove it to anyone. :P
Here’s two huge thumbs up for Mr. Magic Eraser – cleans all kinds of stuff … including white leather sneakers!

Will This work on Sneakers?
Hell yeah — although I think it works best on white sneakers. Sneakers that are like cloth, suede or a non-white color it might be dodgy on.
You’ve been warned ;)
Wow.. im surprised this isnt covered more in the sneaker community forums! Is this like the timberland eraser they used to have a while back
@Nike — don’t know about the timberland eraser, but I would urge you to try it out for yourself if you’re interested. I don’t know how well things would work with suede, though, so watch out.
