So I like to post about stuff I find interesting — stuff that I think is interesting, and at other times, thought provoking. If I find what I ‘m writing is good enough for public consumption (admission: this is not infrequently), I will submit it to Digg or Reddit, and allow the websurfing public to vote it up or down.
I have to admit, sometimes I do fantasize that my submissions are good enough to attract enough interested visitors that perhaps, they might leave a comment or two … or perhaps sign up for my feed.
Well.
Thanks to the power of headlines, I attracted at least one person who was looking for something, that this website is not about at all (see insert screen cap).
I considered this at least a couple lessons learned:
- Headlines are powerful tools that attracts all kinds of people based on the wording you use.
- Try not to be too smart or slick, because the traffic you might attract may not be the one you’re interested in
- There are some freaky people out there on there (Digg or Reddit).
