As noted by Katie Fuhrenbacher, over at GigaOm, reports that Pando Reached its One Millionth Install today. Well, to quote the eternal thespian Austin Powers, “YEAH, baby, YEAH!”
I’ve already given Pando props before, and I think I’m not the only one who’s noticing.
Over at the Pando Blog, they note the love Techcrunch is giving them, but also the love from the Yahoo! Messenger group as well.
In other news, Pando is eliminating registration all together, which should make the whole process of sharing large files utterly frictionless.
SMOOTH. :)
Now only if they can get a plugin for Messenger, they’d be all set. ;)
If you’re still on the fence, give Pando a try if you’re interested in sharing home videos, large picture sets, or *whatever* your current email program still has fits over. Its fabulously easy to use and you’ll find your non-techie friends we’ll be able to use it (when you share your stuff) with utter ease as well … making you, of course, look like the Geek-Wizard you already are!

Your are right, registration is a definite no-go. But for my gutt feeling client-side installation on the recipient side also is. I prefer solutions like http://dropster.org or http://zapr.net which don’t require this.

Hey Olav,
Thanks for stopping by.
I totally agree … removing registration is one more step that greases the wheels of the whole process; having client-side installation is another.
On the other hand Zapr.net requires you to install the .net framework — for some folks that’s not so cool.
For Dropster.org — hey, is that *your* work? :) If it is, I will make a special effort to have a look at it.
In other “news”, I have just received an invitation for AllPeers (that Firefox Extension) for p2p sharing, so as soon as I “digg” into that I’ll let you know how that turns out as well.
Cheers

Dropster :- yes, my little pet project. So, yes please, have a look at it.
I look forward to your comments on AllPeers - haven’t had a chance to look at it.

Hey, thanks for at least having a look at Zapr. I know the .net is a pain right now but we’re working on it. Any other feedback?

Hey Mick,
Thanks for stopping by!
Seeing as I’ve done a review (or love-in) on Pando and AllPeers, I might as well make the rounds and give Zapr a fair shake (with appropriate feedback)
(Mental note to self: Review Zapr and Dropster)
I have a few pots on the metophorical blogging stove right now so it might be a bit before I head in that direction.
(SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT) you might want to subscribe to my feed to keep yourself abreast of things … ;)
